When Akiko, a Japanese friend offers me to attend a ribbon embroidery class with her, I didn’t hesitate for a second, well, a little bit anyway because the class is in japanese! But Akiko speaks a perfect French so I went!

Embroidery is on my to-do list for 2021, so that’s great!

The worshop takes place in a bakery called “Pain au Sourire”, what a lovely name!

We are greeted by Mrs. Araki Nobuko (@honeydale_alto) with our embroidery material nicely laid out on the table. Even the needle holder is handmade and I love it.

We start without delay! on the program 3 different patterns to make pins! There is a little hedgehog and 2 types of flower arrangements to embroider, I choose the hedgehog to start.

We learned a few stiches:

  • The ribbon stitch. (The body of the hedgehog as well as the leaves of the branches that surround it)
  • The knot stich (eye and nose)
  • The rose stich (the flowers of one of the flower arrangements that I started in the workshop)

Here is the link of a website that I found quite helpful if you want to start ribbon embroidery

https://lejournaldesaxe.com/2020/04/08/tuto-apprendre-la-broderie-au-ruban/

And here is the result for each of the 5 ladies part of the workshop, beautiful isnt’it!

Great experience, I just have to finish the other 2 pins!See you soon for new Japanese adventure!
